It's the middle of the 3rd right now.. I was going to attempt to do a live blog for the entire game but I just could not........get it done... sorry about that
72-60 LAL 4:20 3rd
Watching this game it reminds me how vulnerable the lakers are. Lamar hot lob to ariza off some backboards. The Lakers play as if they've stopped caring about stopping people and are just trying to outscore people. .. odd Trevor comes in and complexity of the game goes from hopeless to dominating.

What has happened to Kobe's alleged defensive mastery... this guy has made all defensive NBA 8 times ? Hard to believe because I've never seen a guy who has been labeled as a focused defensive stopper get crossed over and burned as much as he does. I'm glad V Palmer T'd his ass up.
I'm feeling a bit nostalgic though... me blogging again.. Lakers vs Kings.. it takes me back 6 years ago. After this blog I will post an infamous Chauncy Tuesday Tirade from 2002 that I managed to locate last night.

I'd love to say the Lakers are clamping down and taking control of this game, but the truth is Sacramento is imploding. B Miller can't hit the side of a barn..although Udrich is playing like an all NBA superstar.. Lamar just got T'd up.. YEAH... Farmar is running around with his head cut off although he just got a nice steal and dunk of Yip's boy B Brown. One thing I will say is I've been really impressed by the play of Josh Powell. So far he is the only guy out there who is showing that he really wants to play. He's hustling, changing shots, getting offensive rebounds. It's a breath of fresh air after having to watch Odom, Walton, and Farmar dance to circus music.
Lets see what the 4th quarter brings...
The second team has been key for this year. They have been mildly consistent.. struggling a bit defensively, but for the most part have been head and shoulders above the rest. Defenses are starting to figure out though if you leave Ariza open from 20.. you probably won't end up getting burned too many times.
92-79 LAL 8:46 4th
The frustrating part in recent games, however, has been their ability to close out. They get up by 15 or 17 only to find the opposition down by 3 or even ahead after just 6 or 7 minutes. Looking at the bench I see PJ sending a text message to J Buss. Tex Winter is staring at the banners wondering why Magic isn't on the floor, and Frank Hamblin is eating a hot dog. Not too much interest in whats going on with the game. Ariza from 21... dont have to tell you if that went in. This is supposed to be a highly structured and intricate style of offense, yet the Lakers are playing more like the '06 Warriors playing hot potato.
I feel like I should be sticking more to the game at hand, but since this is my first post, I thought I'd just air things out here. After watching a Celtics game and a lot of Laker games, I'm just not sure how the Lakers can compete with them. You don't see Garnett acting like a baby, and Ray Allen smoking blunts in the locker room. They've looked solid and totally in control every time I've seen them.. (I don't have the L Pass). They also don't appear to blow leads in the 4th.
98-91 LAL 4:24 4th
Bynum with the nice gang tackle of Spencer who ?? wow.. 5 point lead now.. I can't even break off a sentence without the lead getting smaller. Spencer Hawes taking over with 2 free throws and a 3 in about 10 seconds. It's really hard to be positive as the game goes on. I spent the entire summer and beginning of the year listening to people write the Lakers an automatic bid into the finals. Even if they win this game, I just don't see how a team like Sac should even be in this game, specially with Rick Dees looking on.
103-98 LAL 2:29 4th
Wow Udrich missing 2 free throws... Kobe with a non triangle wild HEEEEEEYYYY shot that happened to go in, a wide open 3 missed by Salmons, k cross over by Kobe and 1.. and there you have it.. the game is over.. Kobe asking Lamar if his stash is G13 classified, cannons in the front row. It's always nice to win a game, don't get me wrong. But if the starters have to play 40+ minutes at home against teams like this, it doesn't bode well for their longevity into the playoffs.
Only question left to answer is tacos.. will the fans get them ? another blown layup by SAC and theres 35 seconds left. But wait...33333333333333333 pointer Johnny Udrich and there goes the tacos.. suckas. It's too bad Bobby Jackson is so injury prone.. I'd love to have him on the team.. even at 36 he seems smooth and crafty. Joel Myers explainging how awesome the Lakers are because they beat another great team like Sacramento.
Final Score Lakers 112 Sacramento 103
see you Sunday
