SRT's NBA Rundown - LAL

I guess this isn't really an NBA rundown.. but I thought it would sound more official that way. This is really about the Lakers of course. I have to admit, in my opening breakdown I did a horrible job in my breakdown of yesterday's game against the Hornets. It goes to show you no matter how long you watch these games and try to break score predictions down to the amount of seratonin in each player's brain prior to tip.. on any given night any team can win.. unless you happen to be playing the Boston Celtics.. wow what a nice lead in to today's topic.

After two close losses on Friday and Saturday, the Lakers rebounded against Memphis and surprisingly looked crisp and clean against the Hornets. Why ?? Lamar got back to his slot machine numbers, Farmar didn't play and let's face it.. David West was off, Posey was a non and Chris Paul at 17 pts, 10 asst, and 6 steals was held in check if you want to call it that. On the Laker end, nobody really did anything offensively that stands out.. actually Luke made 2 free throws so that's always news.. but it really is funny how you take the two initial losses, coupled with the perception that NOH was going to come out and put on some show time last night and it appears to be the recipe for disaster... a downward spiral that once was a promising season... a season where Vegas had the Lakers pegged to win it all suddenly gone.. then poof!!! Lakers win.. cover the spread for the first time in the last 10 games and the ship is back on track. Listening to post game Laker talk is hilarious that way.

Now comes the Boston Celtics into Staples.. and what does this game really mean.. If the Lakers win are they the champs??.. NO.. if Boston wins by 1 or wins by 40 is that going to get them anywhere ??? Not really.. What a victory does get for the subs and people with simple minds like Odom and Walton is confidence. If the Lakers are to win on Thursday, the bench will have to play a major role in it.. and Kobe will have to be 2008 Leader Kobe and not 2008 Revenge for holding me to like 35% in the finals last year Kobe. Lakers will have Bynum and Ariza in this time.. hopefully Phil won't take Ariza out if he has 6 pts, 5 rebs, 1 stl and 1 blk in 5 minutes. Bynum needs to dominate Perkins in the middle, and let's have Kobe guard Ray Allen instead of Pierce when Ariza is in. Their bench is only 3 deep so if you stick sashavich on House and get him pissed off.. stop bailing Powe out on his BS spin moves.. and attack Garnett when he is on defense... things might happen.

All i know is if Luke starts on Pierce.. its going to be a huge mountain to climb because its going to be 333333333333333 pointer Paul Pierce.. Let's stick walton in for the 3 minutes Pierce is out for his ceremonial carry off the court.

Take note of the state of things when Walton is in and what that state becomes for the Lakers, and what happens for the first 5 minutes after Ariza checks in.. for most of the year, it has been a beautiful thing.

I really do think the Lakers can win this game..win their confidence back, and show the Nation they are who Vegas thought they were back in August.

Happy Holidays everyone..
