What a weekend! What a road trip! 6-0? Vlad traded for the 'stache? Mitch for GM of the year? NAH!
I must admit, after Bynum's injury I predicted a 2-4 recors. MAYBE a split in Boston or in Cleveland but never 6-0. It just goes to show you that anything can happen in the NBA.
What makes this past weekend even sweeter was the trash that was traded. Yes, I'm talking about Vlad. Sure he didn't get consistent minutes this year BUT to obtain consistent minutes in Phil's system, you have to be consistent. Let's face it, Vlad was a streaky shooter who was either ON..or OFF. It was OFF for most of the time. On the defensive end, teams attacked him right from the start. Vlad would play the 3 spot and other teams would iso whoever Vlad was guarding.
If you read between the lines in Mitch and Phil's comments about the trade, the trade was based on committment. The story that immediately comes to mind is the infamous snowboarding accident. The Lakers had a chance to cut him because it violates his contract however they chose to just fine him 500k. Another incident that Kevin Ding reported in the OC Register was that Vlad came to practice last Friday in Vans. Yes, the skateboard company who is famous for their slip on shoes. What kind of professional would come to practice like that? No wonder Phil called you "Space Cadet."
Vlad, you may be bitter about the Lakers and Phil Jackson but you created this mess and this is the end result. So long and good riddance!
Next up in my future rants: Luke Walton (High IQ my @$$)
