Since we started the tradition of posting before the Christmas game in 2008 when the Lakers "avenged" the finals the previous June, it is my pleasure to share my point of view as to what will happen Saturday.
X's and O's get thrown out the window in games like this. To me this is a classic "F U " game for Kobe. He has heard all summer and fall about the "big 3" and how they are poised to dominate the universe. He will come out shooting. And that's a bad thing for the Lakers and their fans. Especially when Gasol has Joel Anthony guarding him. And LO can go around, under and through Mr Bosh. Who, by the way is very talented on offense. I just think he hurts Miami in a potential ECF matchup with Kg and Boston.
So the only thing to figure out is, who will have a career night for the Heat? Like Earl Boykins and Malik Rose before him my money is on James Jones. Somehow someway all Phil Jackson teams in LA (I won't lump Chi town in with this take) tend to let some unknown or lesser known player destroy them.
And since coming to LA, Jackson teams also tend to "turn it on and off". And right now, judging from the game vs Milwaukee the switch is turned off.
The only thing that will be in doubt will be the text totals going from Glendora, Ca to Westlake Village, Ca. Otherwise I don't see this game being close at all. The Heat have much more to play for. The Lakers wake up sometime around Valentine's day only to realize they are ten games back of San Antonio and Dallas in the loss column. They then venture to the Alamo in late May and get beat 4 games to 2 just like 2003. There's a reason teams don't make four straight Finals.
Heat 107
Lakers 93
