The Sky is Falling

In Lakerland, alot of fans tend to overreact. We have to remember who is coaching this team and what the ultimate goal is. A championship.
In listening to local media and even Mr. Stu Lantz, one would think that the Lakers are heading straight towards the lottery. Not so. Not even close.
Phil Jackson tends to look at a season as a marathon. You want to be running your best at the end. What a Jackson-led team tends to do is fall asleep during the months of December to February. Look it up, the teams of 2000-2004 tended to start quick, hit a rough patch, then finish up strong. In 03 the exception was the Big Cactus was recovering from a toe injury and we NEEDED to finish strong because the start AND the middle sucked.
No one remembers how Cole Hamels pitched during April. No one remembers how Tim Tebow played in September or how the Steelers fared in August. Everyone remembers the bottom line and how you finish. (Think tortoise and the hare.)
I hear alot of talk about how the Celtics don't take this approach and they bring it every night. True, but they still have to face Lebron in May. They still don't have the leadership of PJ Brown and Posey and to me, Pierce isn't right yet. And if anyone knows KG and big shots during big games, Pierce better be right for Beantown's sake.
So there may be a loss here and a loss there. There may be some blown defensive assignments here and some failed box-outs there. But my money is still on this team, this coach and this organization playing well right around the time the Tar Heels are cutting down some nets and the World Baseball Classic makes it's debut at the ravine.

  1. Hey I remember what Tebow and Co. didn't do in a loss AT HOME to Ole Miss on Sept. 27th bro.

  2. My point was a season is a marathon and "fans" want to win every game by 30 points... They tend to forget that a) teams play above their heads against the Lakers and b) they all cut NBA paychecks so they have at least a little pride and won't get blown out all the time. I mean, have you seen some of the lines lately? LAL -18 vs Minn?? LAL -16 vs Sac?? Easy money.
